Yale Egyptology Lecture Series (Cycle 1)

 

We are very pleased to announce that Yale Egyptology will be launching an online lecture series from the end of this Fall semester.

 

The series aims to bring together scholars from all the various subfields of Egyptology and to offer a wide range of thematic lectures, as well as providing a discussion platform for the presentation of current research projects and field work.

 

Please find below the details of the first talks scheduled. Further ones will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

Dec 2, 2020 (2pm ET): Gregory Marouard & Nadine Moeller (Yale University)

Dec 9, 2020 (2pm ET): Frederic Krueger (Freie Universität Berlin)

Title: The Lost Monasteries of Armant: First Papyrological Steps towards Reconstructing the Obscure Monastic Landscape South of Thebes

 

Jan 13, 2021(2pm ET): Irene Forstner-Müller (Austrian Archaeological Institute Cairo)

Title: Kom Ombo - an urban center in Upper Egypt reappears

 

Jan 20, 2021(2pm ET): Mohamed Megahed & Hana Vymazalová (Charles University in Prague)

Title: Unearthing Djedkare’s Royal Cemetery at South Saqqara. Recent discoveries and new findings at a forgotten burial site

 

Feb 3, 2021(2pm ET): Cary J. Martin (University College London)

Title: The Demotic Legal Codes – Or Manuals – Or Commentaries – Or Case Laws? Does Modern Terminology Help or Hinder us in interpreting these Texts?
