Title: 10 years in the Temple of the Sun

 

Short Bio: Between 1986 and 1996, Raue studied Egyptology, Near Eastern Archeology and Classical Archeology in Heidelberg and Berlin. In 1996 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg with Jan Assmann. Between 1996 and 1999 he worked on a DFG project on pottery from the Old Kingdom. From 2000 to 2010 he worked at the Cairo Department of the German Archaeological Institute. He took part in the excavations in Elephantine, which he has directed since 2007. He has also been a curator  of the Egyptian Museum at the University of Leipzig since October 1, 2010. In 2021 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Leipzig. In May 2021 he was elected First Director of the Cairo Department of the German Archaeological Institute and will take up this office  in 2022.
