Title: Egyptian Coinage in the Longue Durée.
Abstract: This lecture will be an exploration of the coinage systems of Egypt from the Persian to the Late Antique period, which is the subject of the second chapter of my monograph project. While providing a chronological overview, the lecture will highlight aspects of Egyptian coinage that are intrinsic to its nature during the millennia covered, such as its global dependency and impact, its metal supply, and its role in Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan trade.
This lecture will be available both on Zoom and in person at the Humanities Quadrangle, 320 York Steet (Room HQ 132), New Haven (CT) 06511.
Everybody is welcome to attend.
Lunch will be offered by Yale Egyptology.
